One of the many Brazilian folk stories is about an animal called "boto" , what is a "boto" you may ask… Boto is a real animal that exists in the Amazon River and region, which looks like a dolphin, but it lives in the river. A boto in general has its skin pink but it may also be gray and it has a very long nose. They have a very mysterious behavior that was the inspiration to this story.
And here is an adapted translation of the myth surrounding the boto, that I found on this website as the link follows:

According to the myth, a pink boto gets out of the rivers at the beginning of the party nights and with a special power, he transforms himself into a handsome young man dressed in white. He wears a white hat to cover his face and disguise his big nose.
At the parties, with his charming and out-spoken manners, the boto dances, drinks and behaves as a normal man, and approaches the single ladies and seduces them. Right after that, he is able to convince them for a walk to the depths of the river, where he usually impregnates them. In the next morning he goes back into his animal self, because his spell only happens at night.
